New LG Signature Edition smartphone features ceramic back, $1800 price tag

LG Signature Edition V35 ThinQ black

Remember the LG Signature Edition? This luxury version of the LG V30 launched last year with an eye-wateringly high price, and now LG has revealed another ultra-premium smartphone.

The second LG Signature Edition is now official, and it looks to be a luxury version of the LG V35 ThinQ. It's packing a 6-inch 2880x1440 OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 256GB of built-in storage, along with a microSD card slot for adding more storage. There are dual 16MP rear cameras on this LG Signature Edition — one standard lens and one 107-degree wide angle lens — as well as a 3300mAh battery and Android 8.0 Oreo.

LG touts that its new Signature Edition phone also includes premium sound quality thanks to its Bang & Olufsen-tuned audio. The phone comes with a pair of Beoplay H9i wireless headphones that currently sell for $499 in the U.S.

Rounding out the LG Signature Edition's premium feature set is a backside that's made of specially processed Zirconium Ceramic that LG says is resistant to scratches.

The LG Signature Edition is now on sale and will be limited to just 300 units. As for pricing, LG is asking 1,999,800 won ($1,790 USD) for its ultra-premium handset. Buyers will have the option of getting their name engraved on the back of the device and on a leather wallet case if they'd like.

This new LG Signature Edition looks like a pretty attractive piece of kit, offering an all-black look with a ceramic back that probably feels great. Most of us probably won't ever handle one given its limited production run and high price, but at least we can ogle images of the device online.
