Google Assistant launches in the Netherlands with Dutch language support

Google Assistant Dutch

Google Assistant is learning a new language.

Google Assistant is launching in the Netherlands and has learned the ability to speak Dutch. In fact, Google says that Assistant "not only speaks Dutch, but is Dutch." It can sing Dutch songs, tell you about Dutch football, and knows that the weather is important.

Dutch brands have built Actions on Google for Assistant, too, like asking PostNL when your package will arrive or asking Albert Jeijn for recipes. Google says that Assistant can also provide news from reputable Dutch news organizations, including 538 News, ANP, Blendle, BNR News Radio, NOS, NU.nl, RTL News, Omroep Brabant, and Omroep Gelderland. Support for news bulletins in Assistant will roll out in the coming days.

The Dutch Google Assistant is available starting today. It'll gradually come to Android devices running Marshmallow (Android 6.0) or higher that are set to English. Users on iOS 10 or higher will be able to download the Google Assistant in the App Store in the coming days.
