Dual SIM phones are pretty common on Android, but we've yet to see a dual SIM iPhone from Apple. That may soon change.
Code inside iOS 12 beta 5 appears to hint that dual SIM support is coming to Apple's iPhone. 9to5Mac discovered references like "second SIM status" and "second SIM tray status", and there's another that mentions "DualSimDevice".
There aren't many details about when or where Apple might sell dual SIM phones. One thing that does seem possible considering today's leak is that Apple's dual SIM iPhone will accept two physical SIM cards rather than using one regular SIM and one eSIM.
Dual SIM smartphones are popular in many countries around the globe. Travelers use them to have both their main SIM and a SIM for the country that they're visiting, letting them keep their regular phone number while also getting a local cellphone plan. Some people also use dual SIM phones to have both their work and personal lines on one device, negating the need to carry two phones. While we don't yet know much about Apple's plans for a dual SIM iPhone, it's nice to see that the company may finally be planning to offer a dual SIM phone for consumers that want one.
