T-Mobile will launch a 5G Samsung phone, too

T-Mobile remained quiet when AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all confirmed plans to carry a 5G Samsung phone next year, but T-Mo customers needn't worry, because they'll be getting that device, too.

T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray says that T-Mo will offer the same 5G Samsung phone that the other three carriers have confirmed. "T-Mobile is working on that phone too — and other 5G devices with other OEMs and chipset manufacturers," Ray said in a blog post. The exec went on to reveal that T-Mobile will have multiple 5G devices that work across multiple spectrum bands in 2019.

None of the U.S. carriers have said exactly what this mystery 5G Samsung phone is, but it's likely a 5G version of the Galaxy S10. Samsung's flagship Galaxy S phones typically launch on all four major U.S. carriers, and we recently heard a rumor that Samsung is working on a 5G version of the Galaxy S10, so that seems like a pretty good fit here.

T-Mo has said that it's building its 5G network out 30 U.S. cities this year, including New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Dallas. The magenta carrier plans to use mmWave and 600MHz spectrum for its 5G network, and it's said that it plans to have nationwide 5G coverage by 2020.
