T-Mobile TV streaming service reportedly delayed until 2019

T-Mobile Un-carrier TV service

Throughout 2018, we've been waiting to see how T-Mobile would disrupt cable TV following its acquisition of Layer3 TV in late 2017. Now it looks like we'll be waiting even longer.

T-Mobile has delayed the launch of its streaming TV service until 2019. The project proved to be more difficult than expected, a report from Bloomberg claims, and T-Mo execs had to decide whether they launched a streaming TV offering in 2018 that was similar to existing services or push the launch into 2019 to make a more unique service.

T-Mobile declined to comment on this rumor when asked.

The magenta carrier bought cable service Layer3 TV at the end of 2017, promising that it would disrupt the cable and satellite TV industries with a new pay TV service in 2018. While we did get a peek at a T-Mobile-branded set-top box last month, we haven't really heard anything about T-Mo's TV service since the Layer3 TV purchase. Considering that and the fact that there's less than two weeks left in 2018, it's not too surprising to hear that T-Mobile has pushed the launch of its streaming TV service to next year.
