Did you buy Apple's new iPad Pro, only to find your expensive new tablet slightly bent when you took it out of the box? Well, according to Apple, that's normal.
Apple says that some of the new iPad Pro tablets are shipping with a slight bend. The company says that this is not a defect and that if your tablet is bent, it shouldn't get worse over time or affect the device's performance. Apple went on to tell The Verge that it stands by the iPad Pro and that any concerns over the tablet's structural rigidity are unfounded.
As for what causes the bend, Apple explained that it's a result of a cooling process that involves the iPad Pro's metal and plastic parts during its construction.
There have been some reports of bent iPad Pros in recent weeks, and a popular video from JerryRigEverything shows the device being folded with what appears to be If the bend bothers you, you should be able to exchange or return your iPad Pro.
The iPad Pro isn't cheap — the 11-inch model starts at $799 while the 12.9-inch version starts at $999 — so it's understandable that some folks are frustrated that their new tablet is bent out of the box, even if it's a slight bend that won't affect performance. It's unclear if Apple ever encountered this bend before releasing the iPad Pro to the public, and it's kind of strange to hear Apple say a bend in its premium tablet is not a defect, but now the company can't or won't change the design.
