Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ begin receiving Android Pie update

Samsung Galaxy S9+ hands on

Samsung previously said that it would begin rolling out its One UI update with Android Pie in January, but it looks like the company has kicked things off a few days early.

Samsung is now updating the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to Android Pie with the company's new One UI. The update is version G960FXXU2CRLI for the S9 and G965FXXU2CRLI for the S9+. It's a hefty update, too, so once you see it land on your S9 or S9+, be prepared for a long download.

While Samsung hasn't officially announced the rollout quite yet, many Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners from around the world have confirmed that Pie has arrived on their devices. So far, we've seen users from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates check in with Android Pie updates.

The update to One UI brings with it a refreshed user interface. Samsung announced One UI last month, revealing that it will help to make the interface easier to navigate as phone screens get bigger and bigger. It does so by keeping the relevant content that you want to interact with in the bottom half of the screen, while putting content you view in the upper half. One UI also brings a more clear and intuitive design, a Settings app that'll show your most-used settings first, and a Night Mode across the user interface.

Once you get One UI with Android Pie on your Galaxy S9 or S9+, let us know what you think of it!
