HTC Desire 12s official with 5.8-inch screen, 13MP cameras, and dual finish design

HTC Desire 12s official

Nine months after HTC introduced the Desire 12 and Desire 12+, the company has revealed another Desire 12 variant.

The HTC Desire 12s has gone official. It's a mid-range smartphone that boasts specs like a 5.7-inch 1440x720 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, HDR, and phase detection autofocus, and a 13MP front-facing camera. There's a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone for added security.

Inside the Desire 12s is an octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of storage. There's a microSD card slot in there, too, along with dual SIM slots, NFC, and a 3075mAh battery. HTC has kept around the 3.5mm headphone jack and the microUSB port, too, and it's loaded Android 8.1 Oreo onto the Desire 12s.

HTC Desire 12s colors

HTC will sell the Desire 12s in black, silver, and red color options, with devices expected to begin shipping in January. Pricing starts at NT$5,900 ($191 USD) for the 3GB/32GB model and goes up to NT$6,900 ($224 USD) for the 4GB/64GB model.

The design of the HTC Desire 12s is interesting, offering a dual finish look similar to what we saw on the HTC U12 Life earlier this year. Unfortunately, its specs are a bit outdated, but its pricing seems reasonable for what you're getting. There's no word on when the HTC Desire 12s will make its way outside of Taiwan, but it also appears on HTC's Middle East website, so we might soon see it in that part of the globe as well.
