Fitbit is starting the week off with a bang by pushing out the Fitbit OS 3.0 update.
Fitbit OS 3.0 is rolling out starting today. Owners of the Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Ionic: Adidas Edition, and Fitbit Versa can upgrade to Fitbit OS 3.0, which brings with it several new features.
This update brings an expanded on-device dashboard that'll let you see more data at a glance, including sleep and expanded exercise view, and also adds quick logging for water intake and weight. Goal-based exercise modes have been added as well, letting you set a goal for calories burned, distance, or time for more than 15 exercises.
Also included in the update are more third-party apps. Couch to 5K and MySwimPro are now available in the Fitbit Featured App Gallery along with the Genius Wrist app for on-device workouts and the Achu Health clock face that'll help you evalutate potential illness. Fitbit has teased that there are more third-party apps coming in early 2019, like Charity Miles, FitBark, Gold's Amp for Fitbit, and TRX.
Finally, a new Fitbit Exercise API and new open source developer tools will help devs to build better fitness and health apps for the Fitbit platform.
Looking ahead, Fitbit says Female Health Tracking will be released in early 2019. This feature will include a comprenhensive view of menstrual cycle data over time.
