Apple is hosting an event next week, but as is usually the case with major events like this one, details of Apple's plans have leaked before the show kicks off.
Apple will introduce new iPad Pro models during its event next Tuesday, according to a report from Bloomberg. These devices will have an updated design with squared-off sides and slimmer, symmetrical bezels. Like Apple's recent iPhones, these new iPad Pro models will ditch the home button in favor of Face ID. Unlike the new iPhones, though, these new iPad Pros will have LCD screens rather than OLED panels.
Also rumored to be coming with the new iPad Pro models is a USB-C port for charging and syncing. That'll be a huge deal if it turns out to be true. Not only will it be the first time that an iOS devices uses USB-C for charging, but it'll also mean that the iPad Pros will have a more standard charging cable rather than a proprietary Lightning one.
Finally, the new iPad Pros will reportedly include a variant of the A12 Bionic processor found in the iPhone XS. Apple is allegedly planning an updated Apple Pencil stylus, too.
Apple's Mac computers are expected to get a refresh as well. A new entry-level model with a higher-res 13-inch screen and slimmer bezels will replace the MacBook Air, and a new Mac mini is reportedly in the plans as well. Today's report says that updated iMac, iMac Pro, and 12-inch MacBook models with faster processors are coming, too, and some of these models may be ready for the October reveal.
So there you are. These updated iPad Pro models sound pretty exciting, bringing a refreshed design with slimmer bezels, Face ID unlock, and USB-C, making them more deserving of the "Pro" moniker. For anyone who uses an iPad for work, these updated versions with USB-C should be pretty exciting.
Based on what we've heard so far, are you interested in one of these updated iPad Pro or Mac devices?
