Just two days before an Apple event where new iPad hardware is expected to be shown, a new leak appears to have shed more light on the design of the upcoming tablet.
An icon found within iOS 12 seems to show Apple's upcoming iPad Pro. Discovered by 9to5Mac, the device has no home button and has uniform bezels surrounding its display. There's no notch to be found here, which should ease some concerns that folks may have had, and there's a power/lock button at the top of the device.
There are no other details about the new iPad Pro revealed by this leak, but a recent report said that Apple's new tablet will include Face ID, a variant of the A12 Bionic processor found in the iPhone XS, and event a USB-C port, which would be a huge change given that Apple's recent phones and tablets have all used Lightning.
It's tough to say much about the new iPad Pro based on today's leak, but it looks like it could be a major update for Apple's iOS tablet family. Ditching the home button allows Apple to use slimmer bezels on the device, and the addition of Face ID will bring it more in line with the iPhone family. And if Apple does indeed adopt USB-C, it could open up the iPad Pro to many more accessories and make it more of a "Pro" device.
Apple is hosting an event on October 30 and it's expected we'll see new iPad Pro hardware unveiled there, so stay tuned.
