Nextbit shuts down Robin support

Nextbit Robin hands-on video

UPDATE: Nextbit has clarified that it will continue to support the Robin with software updates through February 2018.

ORIGINAL: We haven’t heard much about the Nextbit Robin lately, but that’s changing today, and the news isn’t great.

Nextbit has confirmed that it has shut down support for its Robin smartphone. This news doesn’t come as a surprise, as Nextbit has warned users that it’d be shutting down support for the Robin on August 1st, but it’s still kind of a bummer for folks that are using the Robin as their daily driver.

For anyone that is still using a Nextbit Robin, you’ve got a couple of options if you find yourself needing some help with your device. You can either check out Nextbit’s online self-help tools or point your browser to the Razer Insider forums to get help from your fellow Robin owners.

The Nextbit Robin launched in early 2016 to a lot of excitement, as the Nextbit team included former employees of Google, HTC, and other high-profile mobile companies. The Robin looked good and got good support in terms of updates, but sales of the phone were stopped when Razer bought Nextbit earlier this year. Now rumors say that Razer is working on a gaming-focused smartphone, possibly with help that it acquired from Nextbit.
