Google Maps now shows your phone's battery level when you share your location

Google Maps Android app

Google Maps has a feature that'll let you share you location with friends so they know exactly where you're at, which can be useful for things like letting them anticipate your ETA or seeing if you're nearby to hang out. Now that location sharing feature includes a new bit of info about your friends.

The Google Maps location sharing feature now includes your friend's battery percentage. As noted by Android Police, this includes their exactly battery percentage as well as their charging status. The feature activates automatically when you're sharing your location with your friends.

This feature could come in handy when you're planning to meet up with your friend but you see that their battery is low, so you may lose contact with them. It can also be useful in other situations, like if your friend ignores your calls but says that their phone was dead.
