Starting on October 3rd, apps for Apple's devices are going to be more transparent about what they do with your personal information. That shift toward greater openness stems from a notice the company provided to developers on its App Store Connect portal last night — in it, Apple mandated that all new apps and app updates must have a privacy policy that explains (among other things) what kind of data the software collects, how that data is used, and how a user can delete that data.
