iOS users, the time to update has come again.
Apple just pushed iOS 11.3.1 to the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. You can get the update over the air by going into Settings > General > Software Update on your device.
The main focus of this update is to fix an issue where touch input wouldn't work on some iPhone 8 models that were serviced with "non-genuine replacement displays". Here's Apple's full explanation of the fix:
"iOS 11.3.1 improves the security of your iPhone or iPad and addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone 8 devices because they were serviced with non-genuine replacement displays.
Note: Non-genuine replacement displays may have compsomised visual quality and may fail to work correctly. Apple-certified screen repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine parts. See support.apple.com for more information."
This is a pretty minor update, but it's good that Apple is fixing the issue that'd cause some iPhones with display replacements to not work properly. Obviously Apple would like it if you got your iPhone screen replaced at its stores, but if you'd prefer to go somewhere else, the company isn't going to block your non-Apple replacement display from working.
