Samsung Galaxy Fold will be in limited supply, buyers to get 'concierge-like service'

Samsung Galaxy Fold official

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is launching in two months, and when it arrives, you likely won't be able to just walk into a store to play with one.

Samsung revealed that supply of the Galaxy Fold will likely be limited at launch. Kate Beaumont, director of product, services, and commercial strategy at Samsung U.K., has told The Verge that there will be less supply of the Galaxy Fold than it would of the Galaxy S10 at launch.

"This is a super premium device, and we want to make sure it has a concierge-like service and experience, so it's not going to be on display in all stores," Beaumont explained. "You’re not going to see it on the stands, we want to make sure it’s a very personal experience. There will be quite intensive aftercare that goes with it as well."

Beaumont's statements don't come as a huge surprise. As a first gen foldable smartphone that costs $1,980, Samsung likely doesn't expect the Galaxy Fold to sell like a Galaxy S flagship, so it's not going to churn out the same quantity of devices as a Galaxy S10. And also because it's a first gen foldable that costs nearly $2,000, it wants to give prospective customers who are serious about the Galaxy Fold a great buying experience.

The Galaxy Fold is expected to launch on April 26th. Samsung says that it's planning to hold a press event in early April that'll be focused on the foldable, so stay tuned.
