OnePlus phones are known for offering flagship-tier features at aggressive prices, but one feature that hasn't made it into a OnePlus phone is wireless charging. That won't change with the next OnePlus flagship.
The OnePlus 7 will not include wireless charging. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed the news to CNET, touting that OnePlus's wired fast charging is far superior to wireless charging. "OnePlus charging is one of the best. Wireless charging is far inferior," Lau said.
It is possible that wireless charging will eventually make its way into a OnePlus phone. Lau explained that OnePlus is working on accelerating the delivery of wireless charging, but that the company hasn't yet figured out a way to include it without emitting too much heat.
Lau is correct that OnePlus's wired fast charging is much speedier than wireless charging, but some folks still like the convenience of being able to plop their phone down on a wireless charging pad to regain some juice rather than having to fiddle with a cable that you need to plug into your device. Wireless charging support would be a nice addition to a OnePlus flagship, so hopefully the company can figure out how to include the feature in a way that it is happy with soon.
