A couple of months after its original announcement, it looks like Android 7.1.2 is ready for public consumption.
Several Pixel C and Nexus Player owners are reporting that they’re receiving the Android 7.1.2 update. These devices aren’t enrolled in the beta program, which suggests that Google has deemed Android 7.1.2 to be ready to go following two beta releases.
As might be expected for an x.x.1 release, Android 7.1.2 doesn’t include any major new features. It does include a few smaller goodies, though, like a “Swipe for notifications” feature on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P that’ll let you access your notification shade by swiping on the phones’ fingerprint readers. Meanwhile, Pixel C owners are getting the Pixel Launcher, and there’s a “Usage alerts” section in the Battery section of Settings to alert you to apps that are sucking up too much energy.
Google hasn’t made any official announcements about the Android 7.1.2 rollout quite yet, but now that it’s hitting the Pixel C and Nexus Player, we could see even more devices (but not the Nexus 6 or Nexus 9) get it in the coming days. Stay tuned.
