We already know that the Galaxy S8 won’t get its Bixby Voice feature until later this spring, but it turns out that that’s not the only Bixby feature that Verizon Galaxy S8 owners are missing.
Verizon has confirmed that the Amazon shopping function of Bixby Vision isn’t available. With Bixby Vision, you can identify bar codes and products with your Galaxy S8’s camera and then buy the products on Amazon, but the Amazon part isn’t working on the Verizon version of the GS8.
Verizon’s statement on the issue to CNET is as follows:
"Bixby Vision works on all versions of the Galaxy S8, but the Amazon shopping function isn't operational yet. We are working with Amazon to provide that experience, but in the meantime you can use the existing Amazon app on your Samsung Galaxy S8 for the same photo and shopping experience."
While this missing Amazon functionality isn’t something that’ll hobble the core experience of using the Galaxy S8, is it kind of a bummer that another Bixby feature is missing from Verizon’s GS8 at launch. Here’s to hoping that both this Amazon feature and Bixby Voice come to Galaxy S8 customers on Verizon soon.
