Xiaomi Mi Max 2 official with 6.44-inch display, 5300mAh battery

One year after Xiaomi debuted the Mi Max with a massive 6.44-inch display, the company is back with another huge Android phablet.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is now official, and it’s just as big as its predecessor. The Mi Max 2 is packing a 6.44-inch 1920x1080 display. Many of the other Mi Max 2’s features have been upgraded over the original model, though, like the larger 5300mAh battery. Quick Charge 3.0 is also included so that you can recharge that battery quickly.

Xiaomi’s new phablet is also packing a 12-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX386 sensor, a 5-megapixel front camera with wide angle lens, 4GB of RAM, a microSD slot, 64/128GB of storage, and stereo speakers. Rounding out the features that’ve been crammed into the Mi Max 2’s unibody metal frame is USB Type-C, a rear fingerprint reader, an IR blaster, and an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 official

Xiaomi will launch the Mi Max 2 in China on June 1st. Pricing will start at RMB1699 ($247 USD) for the 4GB/64GB model and go up to RMB1999 ($291 USD) for the 4GB/128GB version.

Just like the Mi Max before it, the Mi Max 2 is a large device targeted at folks that want to consolidate their device collection and would rather carry one big smartphone rather than a smaller phone and a tablet. You might need new pants with extra large pockets or a separate bag to carry it in, but for folks willing to live the phablet life, the Mi Max 2 with its huge display and equally huge battery looks like an interesting offering from Xiaomi.
