HTC U12+ images and specs fully revealed ahead of official event

HTC U12+ images leak

With less than one week to go before HTC reveals its next big thing, it looks like most of the details of the device have leaked out.

Images and specs of the HTC U12+ have been revealed by Evan Blass. The device itself appears to have slim bezels on the left and right sides of the screen and slightly larger bezels at the top and bottom. It's got four cameras — two on the front and two on the back — as well as a rear fingerprint reader.

According to the spec list leaked by Blass, the U12+ will feature a 6-inch 2880x1440 Super LCD 6 display, Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of storage. Also included will be a microSD card slot if you'd like additional storage.

The dual rear camera setup will allegedly include a 12MP wide angle UltraPixel 4 sensor with f/1.75 aperture with phase detection autofocus, laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, and a portrait mode. The secondary camera will be a 16MP telephoto sensor with f/2.6 aperture. Around front, it's said that the HTC U12+ will have dual 8MP wide angle cameras with f/2.0 aperture.

Other notable features said to be included with the HTC U12+ are a 3500mAh battery, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa support, USB-C, NFC, and face unlock. HTC is also reportedly including Edge Sense 2, which will let you squeeze the sides of the phone to access apps and hold for Smart Rotate and Smart Dim features. Edge Sense 2 may let you double tap for a mini screen for one-handed use or use it as a back key or navigation bar, too, in addition to offering customizable gestures.

HTC will reportedly load Android 8.0 Oreo onto the U12+, but the leaked docs say that the device is "upgradeable to Android P".

The HTC U12+ sounds like a high-end device, offering most of the features that you'd expect from a flagship smartphone in 2018. It'll be interesting to see what the U12+'s camera performance is like, especially with those dual front cameras, and it also sounds like HTC has done some work to improve its Edge Sense feature.

Two important details that we don't yet know about the HTC U12+ are its launch date and its price, but those may be revealed next week. Stay tuned.
