Verizon launches ultra-rugged Sonim XP5

Verizon Sonim XP5 ultra-rugged basic phone

Verizon today expanded its device lineup with a pair of new products.

First up is the Sonim XP5, a super rugged feature phone. The Sonim XP5 is IP68/IP69 rated and can withstand shocks, drops, splashes, dust, high temperature pressure washes, shakes, and extreme temperatures. It also comes with a three-year warranty that even covers accidental damage.

Other features of the Sonim XP5 include a extra loud speakers, a 5-megapixel camera, a 2.4-inch 320x240 display, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. It supports Verizon’s XLTE network, HD Voice and Advanced Calling, and one-touch Push to Talk.

Verizon is now selling the Sonim XP5 at a price of $0 down and $14 per month for 24 months, or $336 full retail.

Verizon Global Modem USB730L

Also launched today is Verizon’s Global Modem USB730L. This device plugs into your laptop and lets you connect to Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Included is support for LTE Advanced that offers 50 percent faster peak speeds in more than 450 U.S. cities; support for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS; and LED indicators so that you can monitor your connection.

You can score the Global Modem USB730L for $80 with a two-year contract or $249.99 commitment-free.
