Samsung Pay is getting beefed up thanks to a partnership with a major player in the payments game.
Samsung is teaming with PayPal to add PayPal as a payment option in Samsung Pay. This means that Samsung Pay users can use PayPal to make payments wherever Samsung Pay is accepted, including in apps, online, and in stores.
Additionally, PayPal service Braintree will enable merchants to accept Samsung Pay as a payment method in-app and online.
Support for PayPal payments will be rolled out to the U.S. soon. It’ll expand to other countries afterward.
PayPal is a big name in the payments space, and lots of people use it to store a balance and pay for things online. This integration with Samsung Pay is a big deal because now Samsung Pay and PayPal users can consolidate to just using Samsung Pay, plus they can now easily use Samsung Pay to pay for things in-store with their PayPal balance.
