It’s a new month, which means it’s time for some new Android security patches.
Google today unleashed the July 2017 Android security patches, releasing both the factory images and the full OTA images for eligible Nexus and Pixel devices. The Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus Player will get July security updates based on Android 7.1.2, while the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will get Android 7.1.1-based July security updates.
These updates should start rolling out over the air to devices today, but as with most OTA updates, they could take a few days to hit your Nexus or Pixel device. If you’re feeling impatient, Google has uploaded both the factory images and full OTA images so that you can sideload them onto your device if that’s something you’re comfortable doing.
Google has also posted its Android Security Bulletin for July 2017, which offers more details on the vulnerabilities that are addressed with today’s new security update.
