Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge begin receiving Android Oreo update

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge hands-on

It appears as though Android Oreo has started making its way to another flagship smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices in the U.K. have started receiving their Oreo update. Several owners on Reddit have confirmed the update, which weighs in at nearly 1.3GB and is version G930FXXU2ERD5 for the GS7 and G935FXXU2ERD5 for the GS7 edge.

As for what's included, the upgrade to Samsung Experience 9.0 includes Oreo goodies like picture-in-picture as well as Samsung enhancements like keyboard improvements and a better Finder that'll give you quicker and more relevant search results.

Right now it looks like this update is only rolling out in the U.K., and it's unclear when it'll begin arriving in other regions. This rollout is still good news for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners outside of the U.K., though, because it means that their Oreo update is ready for public consumption and should be close to arriving in other parts of the globe.
