If Allo is your Google messaging client of choice, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are some new features rolling out to Allo today.
Amit Fulay, who’s in charge of Google Allo and Duo, today announced that Allo is getting chat backup and restore starting today. Also rolling out today is link preview support, which should give you a peek at the webpage that a link will send you when someone shares it with you in Allo.
Another new Google Allo feature arriving today is Incognito Mode for group chats. When Incognito Mode is activated, you won’t see a preview of new messages in your conversation list, notifications won’t show the content or sender of new messages, and your chats are end-to-end encrypted. You can also set messages to disappear after a set period of time when using Incognito Mode.
Allo is one of the Android messaging apps that Google has been pushing heavily, and that shows in the way that Google is continually adding new features to it. Today’s update is a nice one for Allo, giving it important features like chat backup. There are likely still some big features that Android users are clamoring for, like SMS support, but for now Allo fans can be happy that Google continues to work on making Allo into a more fully-featured chat app.
Have you tried Google Allo? If so, what do you think of it?
