Nextbit Robin receives Android 7.0 Nougat beta update

Nextbit Robin hands-on

We’re officially entering the holiday season, and today Nextbit decided to celebrate by giving a surprise gift to Robin owners.

Nextbit is now offering a beta test of the Robin’s Android 7.0 Nougat update. Several owners have already received the update on their devices, and Nextbit says that those beta testers that haven’t already gotten Nougat should receive it in the next 24 hours.

If you’d like to join Nextbit’s beta program and give Nougat a try, you can enroll at any time by filling out this form.

Nextbit today also published a blog post that goes into greater detail about the development of Nougat for the Robin. The company says that it worked with Paranoid Android, a well-known group of developers that offer their own custom Android ROM, to help them with their version of Nougat for Robin. In return, the Paranoid Android team helped Nextbit build the NextbitOS version of Nougat for the Robin.

The Robin is a fairly recent device and it’s Nextbit’s currently flagship, and so it’s not surprising that the phone will get an Android 7.0 update. That said, it’s nice to see Nextbit offering a Nougat beta test to the dedicated users in its community, and it’s also neat that Nextbit is working with a well-known team of developers to make their software better.

Are you currently using a Nextbit Robin?
