Alongside its updated smart speakers, Amazon today introduced a few new devices to help add smarts to your not-so-smart devices.
- Echo Input: The Amazon Echo Input is sort of like an Echo Dot, but without the speaker. You can connect this small disk to an external speaker via 3.5mm audio cable or Bluetooth, giving it Alexa smarts. That includes the ability to stream music as well as ask questions and control smart home devices. The Echo Input will launch soon for $34.99.
- Echo Link: The Echo Link is an audio component that you connect to your stereo system to stream music. It's got analog, optical, coax, 3.5mm, and subwoofer line-outs as well as analog, optical, and coax line-ins, giving you a wide range of hookup options. There's a volume knob for granular control, too, as well as an Ethernet port and support for multi-room music with Alexa. The Echo Link will be released soon for $199.99.
- Echo Link Amp: As its name suggests, the Echo Link Amp is an upgraded version of the Echo Link that adds a built-in 60W, 2-channel amplifier. It's also got left-right speaker binding post outputs so that it can support wiring directly to passive and non-powered speakers. It'll be sold for $299.99.
- Amazon Smart Plug: With the Amazon Smart Plug, you can add Alexa voice control you any outlet, letting you control lights, fans, and appliances while you're away. There's no smart home hub required with this device, meaning you can just plug it in, open the Alexa app, and start using it. The Amazon Smart Plug is now available for pre-order for $24.99 ahead of its October 11th launch.
