Smart Reply is a Google feature that aims to make it easy for you to quickly reply to a friend. This feature has been in Allo for awhile now, and today it's coming to another Android app.
Android Messages is gaining Smart Reply support. The news was confirmed by Google's official Project Fi account on Twitter, which said that Smart Reply for Android Messages is rolling out today.
As you can see in the image above, Smart Reply will base its suggestions on what the person you're talking to says to you. For example, if the other person says "I have the perfect new cheese to try." when you're talking about pizza, Smart Reply will suggest a thumbs up emoji, the phrase "What kind?", or the word "Nice."
Google has said that Smart Reply will learn from you and improve over time, so this feature will get better the more you use it. Android Messages seems to be Google's main messaging app, so it's good to see the Smart Reply feature making the jump to it from Allo and exposing more users to it.
