One month after launching in beta, Google's Files Go app is ready for primetime.
Google today officially launched Files Go in the Play Store. It's available to all devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher. Once installed, Files Go can show you how much storage you've got on your device and recommend files to delete if you need to clear up space, like unused apps, duplicate files, low resolution videos, and memes.
Files Go also helps you find files by automatically organizing your images, videos, apps, documents, and more.
Perhaps the most notable feature of Files Go is its offline file sharing. With this feature, you can send files to a friend nearby without using any data. Google says that all file transfers are encrypted and can be transferred at speeds up to 125Mbps.
In its testing, Google says that the average user can save 1GB of space using Files Go.
While internal storage and microSD cards are getting larger and larger, sometimes it can be good to clear out the storage on your phone and get rid of stuff you no longer need, and Files Go looks like a solid little app for that task. The offline file sharing looks great, too, giving Android users a lightweight and easy way to share files with nearby friends.
