You’ll be able to talk to Alexa on Android phones starting this week

Amazon’s Alexa-everywhere approach to its digital voice assistant means the company has aggressively been pushing its AI companion onto every app and inside every device it can. Starting next week, that ever-growing list will include every Android device, so long as the phone has Amazon’s main shopping app installed. Echo device owners began seeing notifications from Amazon noting the feature rollout, and the company confirmed to TechCrunch today that the feature is indeed coming this week.

As for the specific Alexa feature set you’ll be able to use, don’t think you’ll be restricted to simply asking Alexa about ordering paper towels or buying books. Through the app, you’ll be able to use Alexa just as you can on Echo devices. That means...
