Less than two weeks after LG announced its new Q series of smartphones and the Q6, the first device in that series, the second Q phone has been revealed.
The LG Q8 is now official. While the LG Q6 shared a design with the LG G6, the LG Q8 looks like a shrunken version of the LG V20. That includes a 160x1040 secondary display above the main 5.2-inch 2560x1440 screen that can be used to display recent apps, settings shortcuts, and more.
The LG Q8 also features a dual rear camera setup like its larger V20 sibling. The Q8’s rear cameras include a standard 13-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization and a wide angle 8-megapixel sensor. There’s a fingerprint reader below these cameras, and round on the front of the phone lives a 5-megapixel camera with wide angle lens.
LG touts that the Q8 offers the same high-quality audio features of the V20 as well, like HD audio recording and a Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
Rounding out the LG Q8’s feature set is a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot, a 3000mAh battery, USB Type-C, and Android 7.0 Nougat. The LG Q8’s body is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.
The LG Q8 looks like a pretty solid “mini” version of the LG V20. Not all of its specs are super high-end — I’m looking at you, Snapdragon 820 — but it does offer some premium specs, like a Quad HD screen resolution and dual rear camera setup. Given some of the less than impressive “mini” phones that we’ve seen in the past, the LG Q8 looks like a pretty nice option for folks that want a smaller Android device.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear when or if the LG Q8 will be sold outside of Italy, which is where the phone has been made official. Would you be interested in the LG Q8 if it were offered in your country?
