Google launches Motion Stills app on Android

Google Motion Stills Android app official

Remember Motion Stills? This Google app launched on iOS more than one year ago to help iPhone owners turn their Live Photos into GIFs, and now the app is finally arriving on Android.

Motion Stills is now available for devices running Android 5.1 and up. Google’s app processes each frame of a video as it’s being recorded and immediately stabilizes it and performs loop optimizations. This means that once you’re done recording, your stabilized GIF will be ready to share.

The Motion Stills app for Android also includes a feature called Fast Forward. With it, you can process up to a full minute of video on your phone and speed it up to condense playback and make it easier to share. You can change playback speed from 1x to 8x after recording. Fast Forward also uses stabilization to ensure that your entire video is smooth.

GIFs are really popular right now, and the Motion Stills app makes it super easy to make your own GIFs on your phone. While the Motion Stills app took awhile to make the jump from iOS to Android, the good news is that it’s finally here, and fans of GIFs that have an Android phone should give it a look.
