It seems like Instagram is regularly rolling out new features to its app, like Stories Highlights and a new Type mode for Stories, and now we're getting a peek at another new feature that might soon be coming to the app.
Instagram could soon add voice and video calling support to its app. Files inside the Android version of Instagram have been discovered that are named "call" and "video_call". You can see the files, discovered by Ishan Agarwal, below.
We've seen Instagram rapidly improve its app with features found in Snapchat and some that aren't in there. Snapchat rolled out video calling way back in May 2014, so it's kind of surprising that it's taken this long to implement calling features of its own.
By adding voice and video calling, Instagram likely would hope to keep people in its app rather than see them jump from Instagram to their phone app. Instagram hasn't officially confirmed that calling is coming to its app, but now that these files are in the Android app APK, it's possible that the features could launch soon.
