Heads up, Essential Phone owners, because there's a software update coming your way.
Essential has announced an update for the Essential Phone that bumps the device to build NMJ88C. The update includes the January 2018 Android security patches as well as fixes for the Meltdown and Spectre security flaws that've been all over the news this week.
If you've got an Essential Phone, you should see NMJ88C roll out to your device over the air in the coming days.
Essential has been pretty quick with its Android security updates, pushing the patches to the Essential Phone within days of Google releasing them to Pixel and Nexus devices. It's good to see that continue with the January 2018 patches, and the fixes for Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities are welcome, too.
