Apple will give your iPhone a $29 battery replacement, whether or not it passes diagnostic test

iPhone 6s iPhone 6 comparison

Last week, Apple confirmed that it had begun offering $29 battery replacements to customers with an iPhone 6 or newer following the controversy of it slowing down iPhones with older batteries. Now some more info on Apple's offer has surfaced.

Apple has confirmed that it will replace the battery on an iPhone 6 or later, even if its diagnostic test shows that the battery has 80 percent or more of its capacity. Some consumers claimed that Apple had denied them a discounted battery swap because their testing showed that the phone's battery had retained 80 percent or more of its capacity.

Some people have who paid the original $79 price to have Apple replace their iPhone's old battery have said that Apple refunded the difference for them. This hasn't been officially announced by Apple, but it's worth asking about if you paid $79 for a battery replacement before December 30th.

Apple will offer $29 iPhone battery replacements through December 2018. Have you had your iPhone's battery replaced by Apple for $29? If not, are you planning on doing it?
