Following rumors that suggested that ZTE is working on a smartphone with a foldable dual-screen design, an image that may show that very device has leaked.
An image that appears to show a hinge smartphone has been shared by Android Authority. The device is codenamed ZTE Axon Multy and may launch as the Axon M.
Looking at the device, it appears to have a hinged design with two displays. It’s said that when these two screens are folded out, they’ll combine to form a 6.8-inch screen with a resolution of 1920x2160. These dual screens would reportedly each display two apps at the same time.
Other details on this rumored ZTE Axon M are light, but ZTE is holding an event on October 17th, and it’s expected that this foldable smartphone will be the star of the show.
While the ZTE Axon M wouldn’t be the first foldable dual-screen smartphone we’ve ever seen — hi, Kyocera Echo — that form factor is one that we don’t often see. The Echo wasn’t particularly successful, but we’re pretty far out from that device. This ZTE Axon M is pretty different from most smartphones we see nowadays, and it’s unclear how consumers will respond. We’ll just have to wait and see how well the device works and what kind of features ZTE has cooked up for it.
