MWC 2018 doesn't officially kick off for another couple of days, but Alcatel is getting things started early by announcing a slew of new Android devices.
First up is the Alcatel 5 series, which serves as the company's flagship tier. The Alcatel 5 features Android Nougat running on a 5.7-inch 1440x720 display with 18:9 aspect ratio. There's a dual front camera setup above that display with one 13MP sensor and one 5MP sensor, the latter of which has a wide angle lens. Around back there's a 12MP camera with f/2.2 aperture.
Inside the Alcatel 5 lives an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor along with 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. A 3,000mAh battery powers the whole package, and there's a fingerprint reader on the back of the Alcatel 5 as well as Face Key face unlock for added security.
Next up is the Alcatel 3 series, which is made up of three different devices. The Alcatel 3V (shown above) features a 6-inch 2160x1080 display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 5MP front camera, dual rear camera setup with 12MP and 2MP sensors, and a quad-core MediaTek MT8735A processor. Also included is 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a 3,000mAh battery, a fingerprint reader, Face Key face unlock, and Android Oreo.
Then there's the Alcatel 3X. It's packing a 5.7-inch 1440x720 display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP standard lens and 5MP wide angle lens, and a 5MP front camera. Inside there's a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor, 16GB/32GB of storage, a microSD card slot, 2GB/3GB of RAM, a 3,000mAh battery, a fingerprint reader, Face Key face unlock, and Android Nougat.
And then there's the standard Alcatel 3. This is the only 3 series model without a dual rear camera setup, as its packing just a 13MP rear camera as well as a 5MP front camera. There's a 5.5-inch 1440x720 display with 18:9 aspect ratio included as well as a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. Alcatel has also included a 3,000mAh battery, fingerprint reader, Face Key face unlock, and Android Oreo.
Rounding things out is perhaps the most notable member of Alcatel's new smartphone lineup. The Alcatel 1 series includes the Alcatel 1X, which is the first Android Oreo (Go edition) smartphone that we've seen. This device features a 5.3-inch 960x480 display, quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor, 8MP or 13MP rear camera, and 5MP front camera.
Other features of the Alcatel 1X include 1GB or 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a fingerprint reader on some models, Face Key face unlock, and a 2460mAh battery. It will run Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) out of the box.
