Cyanogen will shut down services and end nightly builds on December 31

Things have been a little bumpy for Cyanogen lately, and today the company announced some more bad news.

Cyanogen revealed today that all of its services and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued by December 31. The open source project and source code will still be available, so anyone that wants to build CyanogenMod themselves will be able to do so.

Cyanogen OS entered the market in a big way by powering the OnePlus One, and it went on to appear on devices from ZUK and Wileyfox. Cyanogen has been having a rough go lately, though, consolidating its teams and parting ways with founder Steve Kondik.

Looking ahead, Cyanogen Inc. will focus on its Modular OS program in which it’ll work with device makers to build different parts of Cyanogen OS into the software of other Android devices.
