LG V30S ThinQ now available for pre-order in the U.S.

LG V30S ThinQ Moroccan Blue

One day before LG officially introduces its next flagship smartphone, one of the company's other notable devices has become available for pre-order.

The LG V30S ThinQ is now available for pre-order in the U.S. B&H Photo Video is now taking orders for the unlocked V30S ThinQ in Glossy Moroccan Blue and Matte Moroccan Blue. No matter which color you choose, you can expect to pay $929.99 for the device.

Specs for the LG V30S ThinQ include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage, up from 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage in the standard V30. The V30S ThinQ also includes a 6-inch 2880x1440 OLED display, octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor, a microSD card slot, a 5MP front camera, a 3300mAh battery, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

The back of the V30S ThinQ is home to its 16MP f/1.6 standard angle  camera and 13MP f/1.9 wide angle camera. LG has equipped the V30S ThinQ with AI camera features, too, one of which is AI CAM, which will analyze the subjects in your frame and recommend the optimal shooting mode for it.

It's kind of strange to see the LG V30S ThinQ going up for pre-order one day before LG introduces the G7 ThinQ, but perhaps what we've heard about the G7 ThinQ so far may not interest some people. For example, we know the G7 ThinQ will have a notch, and some people don't care for display notches.

If you're interested in the LG V30S ThinQ, hit the links below to get a closer look and pre-order one of your own.

Google now lets you register sites ending in .app

Google is now letting people make sites ending in .app, releasing its monopoly on the top-level domain after three years. Google acquired the top-level domain .app in 2015, after shelling out just $25 million for the honor. Top-level domains are the last part of a domain name, like .com or .org.

.app was a highly desired name by website makers, given the association with apps. As Google puts it in its press release, “Even if you spend your days working in the world of mobile apps, you can still benefit from a home on the web.”

Google claims .app is the first top-level domain to require HTTPS encryption. Most sites already use HTTPS encryption, so while it’s not exactly new, it could help tackle the 32 percent of the internet that’s still...

Facebook to introduce Clear History privacy tool in coming months

Before taking the stage at Facebook’s F8 conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg made one announcement ahead of time: the social network is adding a new feature called Clear History. It will be introduced alongside Facebook’s existing options for privacy control. “In your web browser, you have a simple way to clear your cookies and history. The idea is a lot of sites need cookies to work, but you should still be able to flush your history whenever you want,” Zuckerberg wrote. “We’re building a version of this for Facebook too. It will be a simple control to clear your browsing history on Facebook — what you’ve clicked on, websites you’ve visited, and so on.”

The first application of Clear History is directly tied to the Cambridge Analytica...

Watch Facebook’s F8 opening keynote at 1PM ET

After a few turbulent weeks for Facebook, it's now time for the company to host its annual F8 developers conference in San Jose, California. And kicking off the event is none other than embattled CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who's expected to talk about a wide range of topics. That, of course, includes user data and privacy -- the thing everyone wants to know about right now, after what happened with Cambridge Analytica. But, that won't be it: Zuckerberg will likely also touch on the overall state of the business, like the present and future of Messenger, Oculus, Instagram, Whatsapp and much more. You can tune in at 10AMPT/1PM ET right here.

Sprint and T-Mobile: A coalition of also-rans

Once upon a time, two wireless carriers were struggling to survive in a cutthroat business. They tried going it alone, and even almost married other players. But they seemed to find kindred spirits in each other and soon began a courtship. After months of rumors, false starts and premature breakups, T-Mobile and Sprint are finally getting together. Well, pending regulatory approval, anyway. Their respective parent companies Deutsche Telekom and Softbank have reached an agreement to merge the two US carriers, and they're calling the resulting company the "New T-Mobile." No cute couple name here (sad, I'd fully ship Spree-Mobile or Trint), but the combined organization would be worth a total of $146 billion and cover almost 100 million subscribers.

Iran has banned Telegram after claiming the app encourages ‘armed uprisings’

Earlier this month, Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the country’s government entities would no longer be using messaging app Telegram, and now, Iran’s judiciary has banned its use altogether, as reported by Reuters.

The news comes on the heels of Russia’s own Telegram ban, enacted by blocking 15.8 million IP addresses on Amazon and Google’s cloud platforms and leading to large-scale “collateral damage.” As for how Iran will deal with its ban, the National Cyberspace Center withdrew Telegram’s license to operate in the country, and judiciary website Mizan quoted a court order saying, “All Internet providers in Iran must take steps to block Telegram’s website and app as of April 30.”

According to Reuters, Iranian...
